Welcome to the Adelaide Plains Veterinary Surgery Blog! We hope to share lots of interesting stories and information in this space that will keep you well informed and hopefully entertained along the way.

From a humble start in 2001 in the main street of Two Wells, with a staff of 3, to a purpose built facility with all the bells and whistles… we have certainly grown a bit in the last 18 years. We thought we would share some more about the people behind APVS, the heart and soul of the business and the passionate crew that aim to treat your pets like their own when they come into our care.

People are often surprised to know just how many people make up the team at Adelaide Plains Veterinary Surgery – 25 talented, compassionate and dedicated receptionists, nurses, kennel attendants and Vets make up our amazing work place.

Our reception team is made up of Nat, who has quite the array of animals at home including Alpacas, chooks and a hand reared magpie!  Kerry who is also qualified vet nurse and is a lover of stationary shopping, Boxers and rose gold and Sarah who joined the team more recently and has been like a sponge soaking in plenty of new information and getting to know you and your pets. Jayne is also part of our reception team and assists with some of the admin for the reception area. Jayne is passionate about Greyhound Adoption, fostering many greys and getting them ready for their forever homes.

Our nursing and hospital attendant team is headed up by Kerralee who is practically part of the furniture having started way back in 2001 when the clinic first opened. She is joined by Alison, Alysia, Alicia (yes we have 2), Belle, Cherie, Dee, Emma, Erica, Grace, Kirrilly and Karrie, who are all either qualified or studying toward qualifications as Veterinary nurses and attendants.

Later this year we will see 2 of our nurses tie the knot, while 1 became a Nana for the first time earlier this year. We are a diverse bunch and have some talented singers and artists in our group… Ill leave that to you to work out who! Although most of us like to belt out a tune at the annual Christmas party.

Many of the nurses have an area of special interest including Emma and Dee who look after our patient rehabilitation, Grace who has taken over responsibility of semen preservation and Cherie who is our chief little white fluffy and chihuahua carer… just to name a few.

And then there is our vet team – Emma, Emily, Lucy, Michelle and John. To read their stories check out the “about us” section on this website.  As with the nursing group, all the vets have an area of special interest which ensures we will always have the right fit for your pets’ concerns.

Anna is our radiographer who operates our CT machine and visits us one day per week. She lives on a sheep station and is a real asset to the team.

Karen and myself round out the team as Practice and Team Manager.

With 25 busy staff the surgery is a lot larger that you probably think, a virtual tour is available on the website.

Working in a busy Veterinary Surgery like Adelaide Plains means our days go fast, often realising at 2pm that we have not eaten lunch yet. Fortunately, we are a chocolate, chips and cake loving bunch and our amazing clients keep us well fuelled often dropping in treats for us all, which we are so thankful for!

So there is a little snap shot into roles of the team, we look forward to sharing more in the future… Watch this space! If there is something you would like us to write about, please let us know!
